Palak paneer is a indian vegetarian dish served for lunch and dinner, it is panner cubes dipped in a thick gravy of Spinach(palak), seasoned with herbs and spices. In this post I am going to share the recipe of palak paneer.
Serves: 2-3
Ingredients:
- 1 bunch of spinach(palak)-200 gm
- Paneer(cottage cheese)-100gm
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1/4 tsp cumin(jeera)
- Small cinnamon stick
- 2 cardamoms(green elaichi)
- 5-6 cloves(luang)
- 1 bayleaf(tezpatta)
- Mace flower(optional)
- 1/4 cup onion grated
- 1/4 cup tomato chopped
- 2 green chillies chopped( to taste)
- 1 tsp garlic paste
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 1 tsp coriander(dhania)powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin(jeera) powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp red chilli powder(to taste)
- 1/4 tsp garam masala powder
- Salt(to taste)
Process:
- Wash spinach
- Put washed spinach(palak) with little bit salt in a hot water, and blanche it for a min and let it cool down
- Add the blanched spinach in a grinder to make it like smooth paste, if necessary then add some water.
- Prepare all other ingredients :- dry garam masala, cardamoms, cloves,cinnamon stick, bayleaf, mace flower in a powder
- Prepare grated onion, chopped tomato and green chillies and ginger and garlic paste for palak paneer
- Heat the pan and put 1 tbsp butter
- Add bey leaf and cumin(jeera)
- Add whole garam masala that grind it to powder and stir on medium heat
- Add chopped green chillies , ginger and garlic paste and stir for 1 min
- Add grated onion and stir till onions are brown
- Add coriander(dhania) powder, cumin(jeera) powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder and salt( to taste) and add a 2 tsp of water for cooking the masala and stir
- Add chopped tomatoes and mix well , cook tomatoes in lower medium heat for 2 to 3 min
- Add paste of spinach( palak) in the pan
- Mix well and let it cook for 5 min on medium heat , so that raw smell of spinach will go
