Dahi Bhindi(Okra) Masala

Bhindi's is everyone's favorite, in this way a simple bhindi can be served as a party dish. In this post I am going to share a bit different recipe of Bhindi curry with Curd(Dahi).

Serves :- 2
Ingredients :- 
  • Okra/bhindi-1lb/450 gm
  • Curd/dahi-1/2 cup
  • Cooking oil- 4  to 5 tbsp
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 1 onion grated 
  • 2 green chillies chopped
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • I tsp coriander(dhania) powder
  • 1 tsp cumin(jeera) powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder(according to taste)
  • 3/4 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • Salt( according to taste)

Process:
  • Wash and cut okra as shown in the picture



  • Put 1 tsp salt  and 1/2 tsp turmeric powder on okra/ bhindi and marinate it and keep it aside for 5 min



  • Take curd in bowl and whisk it and keep it aside



  • Prepare all other ingredients 1 tsp ginger paste, 1 tsp garlic paste, green chillies chopped and onion grated for gravy



  • Heat the pan and put 2 to 3 tbsp oil 


  • Put marinated okra/bhindi in the pan and stir it, if required add little bit more oil to fry it



  • Fry it well and stir occasionally


  • Take it out in a plate and keep it aside


  • Put 2 tbsp oil in the pan and add mustard seeds 



  • When mustard seeds starts to pop, add garlic paste and stir


  • Add green chillies, ginger paste and stir


  • Add onion grated and stir till onions are golden brown


  • Add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  
  • Add 1 tsp coriander powder, 1 tsp cumin powder, salt(according to taste), 1/2 tsp red chilli powder, 3/4 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder







  • Mix it well


  • Add little bit water and mix it well, cook for 2-3 min, and don't add more water 


  • Add curd(dahi) and mix it well on medium lower heat, continue stir



  • When gravy starts to boil, add fried okra(bhindi) in the gravy and mix well



  • Cook it in on medium  heat for 5 to 10 min without covering it


  • Add 1 tsp garam masala powder and mix it well and turn off the heat

  • Its done and serve hot with rice or chapati
