Brown rice pulao

Brown rice is something which is now can be seen in every home, people are moving away from white rice to more healthy option called brown rice. In this post I am going to share how healthy brown rice can be tasty as well.




Serves :- 2

Ingredients :
  • Brown rice - 1 cup
  • Cooking oil- 2 tbsp 
  • 1/4 tsp cumin(jeera)
  • Green chillies chopped -2
  • 1/2  medium size red onion chopped
  • Broccoli florets-1/2 cup
  • Green beans chopped-1/2 cup
  • Red bell pepper chopped -1/2 cup
  • Yellow bell pepper chopped -1/2 cup
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • Peas -1/4 cup
  • Corn-1/4 cup
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp chaat masala(optional)
  • Salt(according to taste)
  • Water 1.5 cup
Process:

  • Wash and soak brown rice for 1 hour 

  • Put brown rice in a pressure cooker add a pinch of salt so rice won't stick, and pressure cook for 15 to 20 min on medium heat,
  • After 15-20 minutes rice will look like as shown in the picture below


  • Prepare all other ingredients chopped green chillies , red bell pepper, yellow bell pepper, green beans and onion and florets of broccoli


  • Add 2 tbsp oil in a pan and heat it


  • Add 1/4 tsp cumin and stir


  • Add chopped onion and green chillies


  • Stir for one minute till onions are translucent and add salt(according to taste), add red chilli powder and stir


  • Add chopped bell peppers, broccoli, peas, corn and beans and mix well and cover it 5 min



  • Open it and stir for 1 min and again cover it for 5 min
 


  • Open it and stir  


  • Add cooked brown rice and mix well for 2 to 3 min on medium heat



  • Turn off the gas, add 1/4 tsp black pepper powder and sprinkle chaat masala and mix it well 
  • It's done and ready to serve
