Peas stuffed Poori /Bengali Matar Poori

This one is my favorite bengali dish "peas stuffed poori" aka "motor kochori". A poori with different style, ideal for breakfast,lunch or dinner.



Serves :- 4-5
Ingredients :-
 For dough:
  • All purpose flour /Maida- 2 cup
  • Wheat flour/Atta- 2 cup
  • Carom seeds(ajwain) - 1 tsp
  • Cooking Oil -2 tbsp
  • Clarified butter/ghee-2 tbsp
  • Salt-1 tbsp

 For Stuffing:
  • Peas -2 cup
  • Cooking oil-2 tsp
  • A pinch of hing(asafoetida)
  • Green chillies chopped (according to taste)- 4
  • Ginger grated - 1 1/2 tbsp
  • Cumin-1/4 tsp
  • Cumin(jeera) powder-1 tsp
  • Coriander(dhania) powder-2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder(according to taste)-1 tsp
  • Roasted cumin(jeera) powder-2 tsp
  • Salt(according to taste)

Process:

  •   For making dough take wheat flour and all purpose flour(maida) in a bowl(parat)


  • Add ghee, oil, salt and carom seeds(ajwain) in the flour and mix well
 




  • Add water slowly and prepare the dough, dough should not be very soft or hard, add 1 tsp oil on top of prepared dough, cover it and keep it aside for half an hour


  • For stuffing preparation take 1 cup water in a pan, add peas 2 cup, salt 1/2 tsp and boil it for 5 min




  • Drain the water from peas and let it cool down 


  • When peas cooled down then put it in a bowl and mash it as shown in the picture below


  • Grate ginger and chop green chillies


  • Heat the pan and put 2 tsp oil in the pan
 

  • Add a pinch of hing(asafetida)  and 1/4  tsp cumin(jeera)
 


  • Add chopped green chillies and stir


  • Add ginger paste and stir


  • Add cumin(jeera) powder , coriander (dhania)powder , salt  2 tsp ( according to taste) and mix well
 




  • Add mashed peas and mix well , let it cook for 5 min on medium heat
 


  • Add roasted cumin(jeera) powder and  mix well
 


  • Keep stuffing aside and let it cool down
  • Heat the oil in kadai
 

  • Prepare small dough balls by rolling it and make a place for stuffing as shown in the pictures below





  • Fill the stuffing and close it and roll it like poori with little bit oil on the top of balls






  • Now oil should be properly hot, put rolled poori in heated oil and deep fry it from one side





  • Flip it and fry it from other side as well


  • Take it out on a plate and it's done, prepare more like it
  • Serve hot with chutney or any curry!!
