Oats upma is one of my favorite breakfast item , it is a very nice combination of western breakfast with Indian flavors, and of course very healthy too.

- 1 cup of oats
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/4 tsp cumin whole
- 2 green chillies chopped
- 1 tsp ginger grated
- 1/2 carrot chopped
- 1/4 medium size onion chopped
- 6 green beans chopped
- 3 to 4 tsp green peas
- 6 almonds chopped
- 8 walnuts chopped
- salt(according to taste)
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- Chop and prepare the ingredients as shown in the pictures below
- Heat the pan and put 2 tsp oil
- Add mustard seeds in the pan ,when it starts to pop , add cumin seeds and stir
- Now add onion, ginger and green chillies as shown in the picture below
- Cook until onions are translucent
- Add green beans and carrots and stir for two minutes and heat should be medium
- Add salt, turmeric powdere and red chilli powder and stir for one minute, then add salt as per taste
- Add oats and green peas and mix well
- Stir on medium heat till oats are brown
- Add water in the pan and mix it well and let it cook until water starts to boil
- Stir for one minute and let it cook on a medium heat until there is no water left in the pan
- Serve with almonds and walnuts on the top
