Besan bread toast

This is a simple version of bread toast/pakoda for a quick evening snack.



Makes : 8 
Ingredients:
  • Gram flour/besan-1 cup
  • Whole wheat bread /white bread - 4 
  • Cooking oil for shallow frying
  • 2 green chillies chopped finely
  • 1 tsp garlic minced
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • Pinch of asafetida(hing)
  • 1/4 tsp cumin(jeera) powder
  • 1/2 tsp coriander(dhania) powder
  • 1/4 tsp red chilli powder(according to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 cup cilantro chopped
  • Salt(according to taste)

Process:
  • Cut the whole wheat bread in triangles as shown in the picture below


  • Prepare other ingredients :- chopped green chillies, minced garlic and chopped cilantro as shown in the picture below



  • Take gram flour(besan) in a bowl 


  • Add asafetida(hing), salt(according to taste), chopped green chillies, garlic, cumin(jeera) powder, coriander(dhania) powder, red chilli powder, ginger paste,turmeric powder, chopped cilantro







  • Add water slowly and whisk it till there are no lumps in the batter, batter should be consistent not very thick or thin


  • Heat the pan and add oil 


  • Now dip the cut bread slices in the batter from both sides



  • Put dipped bread slices in the oil for shallow frying


  • Flip it and shallow fry from both sides


  • Take it out on a tissue for removing excess oil  


  • Serve hot with ketchup or chutney
